Vintage Pre 1970 "Yellow Kidney - Piegan" Photo By Edward Curtis From Original Plates

22" x 17.75". These ORIGINAL photogravures, were printed from Curtis’ plates after his death by his publisher’s printer, specifically to fulfill his masterwork, The American Indian, as part of the full project & extremely rare and of great value. The project languished after Curtis’ death, but came to light to admirers who started a revival in interest in Curtis’s work. This brought an avalanche of reproductions in the 70s, of varying quality, but allowed many people access & a new appreciation for the strength & endurance of America’s native people. These pieces are not reproductions. It's the owners hope that these will continue to help Native American people live & prosper on their sacred lands, lending wisdom to healing our planetary problems. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to organizations working with native people to sustain their culture and our Mother Earth.
