January 2023 Washington

This is the description of the records in the listings.

Notes: Excellent playing condition, view photos to note condition.

Called and spoke with Josiah. He said that the records were in excellent condition. Asked him why the condition was listed as "Fair" but the description stated excellent playing condition?

He said that "Fair" is the only available choice that he could select for the listing.
Question for Ninja: Is that true?

Very misleading, false description of the vinyl records.

All but two of the (14) records that I purchased were damaged, skipped, filthy dirty, scratched up, in unplayable condition. Also several are Warped.

At the pick up location the smell of marijuana poured out of the house when Josiah opened the door.

Josiah Twombly is a very sketchy person and should Not be allowed to scam any more of your paying customers.

Woe, this was definitely not the case at all. This is this gentleman's second auction ever. I spoke with this costumer for about 40 minutes trying to explain and resolve any issues the customer might have. Auction rules stated all sales were final, description on each lot also stated to view the photos to note condition. In the condition section, Fair is the only option we can select for Auction Ninja doesn't give us any other options to select in the condition box. Our place of business is less than 20 minutes from this gentleman's home. He didn't ask once to come look at the records prior to bidding. When he called, I explained "Fair" was only option e could select and he needed to view the photos to note condition, and that we noted any severe damages on each lot. Over half of the records from the 330 listings came from a friend's Dad that passed away and yes, as I explained to the customer, they've sat for over 30 years untouched. There's definitely some dust that needs to be cleaned. These records are all in excellent playing condition. Not a single other customer has complained about condition at all. This customer was looking for "Like-New" albums, which I explained to him, how to look for what's he's looking for when searching in online auctions, how to view the listings prior to bidding, and that he needed to be reading the full descriptions of the auctions prior to bidding, for he'd know all sales were final. However, as a courtesy I offered to clean all the records for him, for I have a record cleaner, he refused. I then offered for him to take home, clean and listen to, and if he had any issues, I'd do a one time courtesy refund on any albums he had issues with. Even offering to drive to him to do the refund, so he wouldn't have to waste gas and time coming back to me. Which he's not reached back out at all, so guessing he didn't find any issues with the records at all, once he actually cleaned them and listened to them. I had two professional DJ's look at these records and every record posted was inspected and given a thumbs up by a professional. There were no deep scratches on records at all. I'd love to simply have the records back, just to prove the point, for this is simply a new customer unfamiliar with his way around an auction. As for the Marijuana smell, I'm not sure what the issue was, but we do live in a state where Marijuana is legal, I do have Chrons disease, and yes I still in 2023 have a medical permit. However, I'm completely confused on where or why he smelled anything, what that would have to do with him purchasing records thrift an auction platform that he couldn't read the rules or description on, and instead is unhappy with the laws here. But nobody was smoking anything with him, around him, for him, prior to him coming or after leaving. I take this extremely seriously, and operate on a very professional level. Seems like slander to me. rnrn*UPDATE* After reading the review left by the customer and replying here, I then tried to call the customer with no answer and then tried text messaging him at the same phone number he had text me at when coming to pick up his purchase, again with no reply. I apologized again for him being unhappy, and again offered the courtesy of refunding his entire purchase, although clearly in our policy, all sales are final. I try to be a fair guy on all accords and by no means had intentions of misleading anyone in a purchase. This customer clearly cleaned the records of the dust and played the records and was happy with his purchase, which explains why he didn’t want to return for a full refund. I believe that this customer judged me based on my appearance maybe, profiled me, and didn’t like that he made a purchase from someone that looks like me, “sketchy” looking I guess. I’ve been extremely professional throughout this process and have bent over backwards to try and resolve this including a full refund repeatedly. Clearly the customer was completely mistaken of my character and doesn’t want resolve anything, and simply didn’t like who he made the purchase from. Which I’m not going to talk publicly about people, but this customer needs to look in the mirror first and realize what they look like too. The world needs to stop treating people poorly based on what they look like, it’s sad!
