I like Auction Ninja, however I bought a Persian rugs on the site from Modern Day Auction. MDA says you're "required" to inspect all items at pickup because there are no returns. I wasn't permitted to unroll the rug at pickup but was assured I'd be "pleasantly surprised" with its condition and if there were any problems to please call the office.

The description said it had signs of wear and spots. There were a couple close up shots on the site that did not show any spots so I thought they must be small. Wrong. There are SEVEN, YELLOW URINE SPOTS on the rug and it SMELLS LIKE URINE. Disgusting. Had I been allowed to inspect the rug at pickup - like they "require"- I would've never taken it home and I'm sure they fully knew that. I paid $845 for a rug that looks and smells of urine.

Even though they wouldn't let me inspect it like they "require", MDAs owner refused to take it back and offered a mere $100 for cleaning. It costs min $350 to get a 8x10 Persian rug cleaned. I have owned several.
I WILL NEVER PURCHASE AN ITEM LISTED BY MODERN DAY AUCTION, and now question the honesty of the other auction houses on the site.
