About the artist:
Jeffery Beardsall was born in 1940 in Hereford, England and grew up in Wales and Yorkshire, England. He studied at the Sheffield College of Art in Wales and the Slade School of Fine Arts in London under artists Frank Auerbach, Anthony Gross, and Sir William Coldstream. After receiving his Postgraduate in Printmaking in 1967, Beardsall set up a prints studio in London. Beardsall moved to New York in 1969 and established a prints studio there. He became a collaborator with artists Robert Motherwell and Salvador Dali. In the 1970s, Beardsall spent time developing his own unique style and technique, which involved printing on folded paper with powdered colors. In 1975, he was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship and traveled to South America. His technique evolved into painting on top of the printed monotype and his work became less premeditated and more dependent on chance. In the 1980s, Beardsall moved to Stuttgart, Germany and began to experiment with sculpture.
