Item Description

ALFANO DARDARI [1924-1988], a famed Italian artist best known for his series of clown paintings, created in the 1950s. This is an original oil on canvas, titled 'The Model'. A seated clown is posing for a portrait. the artist- another clown- has stepped back to examine his work. He has painted a nude woman instead of the gruff and rumpled clown seated in front of him. His works are always imbued with humor. The painting is in overall good condition, with light crazing in spots but good color. Signed on the lower lefthand corner. Measures 24.75" by 16.5" [in frame]. Please examine the photos for a full condition report.
