Sculptress Sandra (Sandee) Spahr lives in Guilford, Conn., in New Haven County, on the state’s eastern shoreline. She creates her works of art primarily from her studio in her home.
A Pennsylvania native, she graduated from Kutztown (Pa.) University in 1967 with a degree in Art Education. She then began her teaching career in Connecticut, where she taught art, crafts, photography, and sculpture in the Stratford School District for more than thirty years.
During her teaching career and beyond, she studied stone sculpture with Sara Aldouby, wood sculpture with Toshio Odate, fiber sculpture at the Brookfield (Conn.) Craft Center, and apoxie sculpture with Marc-Anthony Massaro. She went on to her earn her Master’s and Sixth-Year degrees in Art from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven.
