About Circa 1872
With decades of experience in buying and selling antiques, Circa 1872 is a mother-daughter team located on the North Shore of Long Island. We both have a background in Social Work and believe this gives us the compassion needed to help you through every step of the estate sale process.
From organizing and researching to the purchasing and selling of your home's memories, we ensure you feel respected and cared for every step of the way. We bring our love of architecture, interior design, and working with people to our business.
Working with Circa 1872 means you also have acess to a team who can expertly curate, photo-inventory, and catalogue the contents of your home. Beyond social work, we also have a background in marketing and graphic design to ensure your auction successfully reaches an audience who will love and be excited to continue the legacy of your home's items.

Leave all the work to us! There is no need to clean out the house other than to remove items you wish to keep. No stone will be left unturned in finding the value of the items in your estate. We are experts at fair market value pricing! We can either do a whole house sale or can sell a few items that you have. We are flexible and can work with your needs!
We prepare and market the entire contents of your property throughout Long Island, with a special focus and understanding of the North Shore and North Fork.
We will run a sale in-residence to liquidate the entire contents of your estate, donate items that don't sell to generate a tax benefit, and leave your house broom swept clean ready for closing.

A NOTE ABOUT EXTENDED BIDDING ("SOFT CLOSE")Circa 1872 online auctions feature extended bidding (a.k.a. "soft close"). Is is the closest way to mimic the actions of an auctioneer (in a live auction) in an online/automated format. During a live auction, the auctioneer gives bidders opportunities to increase their bids before hammering the winning bid (when there is no further interest in the lot). Our online, automated system will automatically extend the closing time of a lot (auction item) whenever a bid is placed within the last five minutes of its scheduled closing to allow other interested bidders an opportunity to increase their bid (if the wish to do so). This may occur multiple times on any given lot depending on bidder interest. Once all interest and bidding in a lot ceases, the clock will run out and the lot will close.
