Joze Ciuha (1924-2015) was born in former Yugoslavia, now Slovenia. Major artist of Slovenia (former Yugoslavia). His museum was inaugurated in Bled in 1996. In 1950 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana and in 1952 he completed graduate studies in mural painting. He visited numerous European Countries (Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy, Sweden. Poland, and USSR. From 1959 - 1961 he studies Buddhist culture and philosophy at the University of Rangoon. He visited Indonesia, India, Cambodia, Pakistan, and Thailand. In 1964 he made a journey to South America, He described his experiences in two books, The Petrified Smile & Conversing with Silence. In 1965 he was artist in residence at the Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
The owner of this artwork worked for the Kennedy Administration in the 1960's in Foreign Affairs and was stationed in Burma when she met Joze. This turned into a lifelong friendship as he continued to send her artwork over a 50 year period. She also had family land deeds and indentures from 1833 - 1900 - with authentic signatures from Andrew Jackson & Martin Van Buren. If you are unable to pick up your items on the designated day, please contact us prior to bidding to confirm if another pickup time is available. If you do not make prior arrangements you may have to forfeit your items. Should you purchase furniture and forfeit or no show, there will be a $100.00 charge for removal added to your credit card to remove your items by a third party.
Please be sure to bring help for large furniture in this sale, we will not have help available to move furniture and there is a lot of large antique and heavy furniture in this sale. Winning Bidders will be required to bring help to move heavy or large items such as furniture. Packing materials will be the responsibility of the buyer.
If you are unable to move your items there will be a $50.00 per staff per item charge. Items over 100 pounds could be up to 200.00 for moving charges. For this sale, we will not have staff available to move furniture.

Lots under $20 that are not picked up during the designated pickup time are automatically forfeited. Lots over $20 will be given the option for an alternate pickup decided by the auction manager for a fee. (This must be arranged before pickup ends) Larger items such as furniture or breakable items may not apply.
