Vintage Eve Kaplin Artisan Colorful Enamel Kinetic 1970s Modernist Pin/Brooch ~ FABS!!

This is an Eve Kaplin Masterpiece, probably created in the 70’s. The piece can be manipulated and shape change by moving. The enamel colors are bright and vibrant, making it a very striking piece that receives compliments and enthusiastic comments every time it is worn.

From Eve Kaplin’s Facebook page:
“Eve Kaplin attended the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design in the 70s and after graduation was living in a loft in downtown Providence when she started to design jewelry. A few years later, she'd moved to NYC and had a small but growing jewelry business. Her techniques featured wholly unique, whimsical, and unusual means of constructing jewelry. Pieces were made from bright enameled metal with all "cold connections" (no soldering or metalsmithing) using rivets and jump rings.
Her signature collections were called Mechanical and Mobile. These were playful, moveable, architectural type pieces with a sense of fun. Colors were bright and primary.” 
 
Sadly, on a trip to Brazil over the holidays in 1983, Eve fell ill and died on January 1, 1984. She was 28 years old.  Since her death, her jewelry has become treasured collector’s pieces.
