Masterfully smithed sculptural high relief repousse portrait of a beautiful woman, this large pendant measures approximately 1.5 x 1 1/8 x 1.75" from top of bail to bottom of pendant and weighs 55 grams of sterling silver including the substantial chain which at 30", goes easily over the head - so there's no pesky clasp to deal with.
Provenance: Henryk learned silversmithing from his father and he was Polish who fled to Russia during WWII. Most of his life he was denied the opportunity to be a silversmith suffering through Stalins Labor Camps. He immigrated to the US and began silversmithing here and became the one of the most notable silversmiths being the only ever to do a one man show in the Rotundra in Congress. Truly a Repousse master. His items are very collectible. Showing his gratitude to this Nation for his freedom and opportunity to work in his field, he created a plaque of immigrants on a ship (taken from a london newspaper in 1890) which, to this day, is on permanent display at Ellis Island in New York Harbor.
