Possibly done by Ignac Fischer, a well known Hungarian Artist, known for his decorative pottery in the Mid- 1800s in Budapest. We have told by the family that this piece has been passed down the generations and they were told it was Fischer. Unlike Herend and Zsolnay, Fischer is no longer in business, making pieces such as these are to come by.
update: I took the liberty of reaching out to the Cleveland Hungarian Museum and ask they're opinion on whether they believe this is a Fischer. Heres what the curator wrote: "I can't be certain but it appears to me that in the center there seems to be a circular embossing which may be "FISCHER J. BUDAPEST". This may be very tiny and hardly noticeable. I have a Fischer vase that has such an embossed mark and it is almost impossible to make out." Take a look at thier website. Looks like a great place to visit.
